About Malia

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am always one of the first to celebrate my teammates big plays and I really try to always be there to encourage them when we are down. I get really focused and very energetic. I like to make the smartest decisions that will benefit my team the most.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I try my hardest to have the best mentality 100% of the time, but I do get in my head often when I am not preforming the way I would like to. I have a very outgoing personality on the court and I love having the next ball mentality.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have always tried my hardest to be a leader on the and I have learned so much when it comes to trying to bring up my team when we are struggling mentally. I have done so much community service for my school, and different programs in my community.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One huge setback I had was a massive back injury that kept me from playing volleyball for 4 months. The whole time during these 4 months I was really worried that when I came back, I was going to be super behind all of my teammates and not at the level they were at. It was very hard for me to go to practices and only allowed to sit on the bench and watch , or occasionally toss balls.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a competitive college where I am able to better my athletic and academic career. I want to be at a college where I feel like I belong and where I am most comfortable at.
