About Marae

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

The way I play volleyball is just that. I play volleyball. I don’t focus solely on getting a kill here or getting an ace there I just play. Of course i’m strategic in what I do but the more I think the less i’ll play the way I know I can.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I try to be the biggest supporter of everyone on the court. My goal as a teammate is to life my team up and be there at all times whether i’m on the bench or on the court. I play for my team so I don’t let myself get down so my team won’t get down. I’ve always been the biggest cheerleader for every person on my team no matter what.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am Vice President of our school’s National Honor Society chapter. I have received Who's Who in English 2 and A/B Honor Roll.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Volleyball has made me a more confident leader and person in general. I used to be shy and quiet but after playing volleyball for a while I try and be the loudest person whether it’s vocally or in a leadership role. I have also learned how to get along with people I may not be fans of but i’ve learned that as a teammate you can’t put your feelings before the goal.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

My 8th grade basketball season I dislocated my right knee cap. All was well until our last tournament my freshman year when I dove and dislocated my left knee cap. My second game back two weeks later I collided with my teammate and dislocated my right knee cap again and slightly tearing my meniscus and I missed half of the regular season.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college who is preferably in Texas and has a good faith based background. I have no idea what I truly want but i’m trusting in Gods plan for my life and am simply following his light
