MaryKate has been the heart and soul of Bellmont volleyball for years now. Her ability to step in and set during the 3A state final was nothing short of heroic. Her leadership transitioning the Braves to 4A has been exemplary. To finish her career in the 4A regional with her customary double-double (10k, 10d) seems fitting for the Purdue commit.

A Purdue commit, MaryKate is a do-everything kid for the Braves and is responsible for their nearly constant appearance at Worthen the last few years. Her ability to do a little of everything was on display at last season’s state finals, where she was forced into the setting role due to injury. With a whip of an arm and constant and consistent passing, Miss Scheumann reminds me of Purdue’s current libero, Ali Hornung, who was also a stud outside for a top-five high school program here in Indiana.
