About McKenna

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I love keeping the game fast and using that to my advantage. I’m very encouraging to my teammates and I will give my all out effort to keep the point alive. I’m good at anticipating the other team’s actions.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My mental toughness is something I am proud of and something I want to continue working on. While I’m playing I like talking to myself in an encouraging way to stay positive even when I’m having a rough game. I am a great teammate and friend. I am trusted by my friends and teammates and they know I always have their back.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am apart of National Charity League, National Junior Honor Society, and I have recived multiple academic awards through my school.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Because volleyball is a sport that involves so much teamwork. I have started developing much deeper teamwork skills than I previously had. I have also deepened all of my character traits in so many ways that I have yet to notice. The sport of volleyball has truly developed me, my skills, and my qualities.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

During my transition year from a smaller club to the club I’m at now, I had to undergo brain surgery. I was getting headaches that would limit my ability to play volleyball to my fullest extent. When I would try to cheer on my teammates. They would hurt so bad I would just have to stop cheering. I got the surgery to be able to continue playing volleyball.

What type of college are you looking for?

Any college with a great atmosphere, good educational opportunities, a good athletic program, and a great coach who encourages the athletes and pushes them to always be their best.
