About McKenzie

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’d say I’m a calm, consistent setter who likes to keep the game moving fast. I try to put my hitters in the best spot to succeed and mix things up so we’re not predictable. I stay positive, communicate a lot, and just try to make things easier for my team.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m a rule follower and a bit of a perfectionist, but I can stay calm under pressure and adjust when things don’t go as planned. I bring positive energy to the court and try to learn from every mistake so I can keep getting better. I work hard and want to be someone my team can always count on.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Yes, I’m very involved at school. I’m a volleyball captain and the starting setter, and I received the 2025 All-Conference volleyball award. I’m also a member of Student Council and Beta Club.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve always played up—I started volleyball at 9 on a 12s team, and by 13 I was playing on a 14s team as the starting setter. That’s helped me grow a lot in leadership, confidence, and teamwork. I’ve learned how to communicate, stay composed, and compete at a higher level while always pushing myself to get better.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One of my most positive challenges has been choosing volleyball over basketball, which helped me fully focus on the sport I love and grow a lot as a player and teammate. Another positive part of my journey is that my dad played college basketball and used to coach me when I played. Even though he doesn’t coach my volleyball team, his experience and support have helped me a lot.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college with a strong pre-med program that will challenge me academically and prepare me for a career in healthcare. I also want a supportive environment where I can grow as a person, learn how to navigate life on my own, and be surrounded by people and resources that help me succeed both in and out of the classroom.
