About Mia

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m competitive by nature, I go into every game needing to win. I hustle on the court, play all-around and am not afraid to hit the floor. I’m not one to place blame on my team mates; every mistake is a team mistake.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m a leader on the court, always encouraging teammates. I’m a perfectionist and do tend to be tougher on myself than anyone else. When I’m not playing, I’m the teams loudest cheerleader.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I’ve been an honor roll student through high school.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Volleyball has taught me leadership and how to have confidence in who I am as a person. When I first started playing I was a complete introvert. Over the last few years my confidence on and off the court has grown, I have learned I just need to be myself and have some fun.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I was late starting volleyball. Not being known in the local volleyball community and not having the skill set of some of my peers resulted in being passed by on multiple occasions. I spent a lot of time riding the bench and used that time to develop both my skills and who I am as a person. I know what it’s like to be the underdog, and I know how to put in the work to get noticed.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a true college experience, a tight-knit school community. I envision being in a town that thrives on their college team, where non-students are as excited about sporting events as the students are. I want to feel at home both in campus and with my team. I’m looking for a 4 year college that will offer me an education to pursue my goals after volleyball.
