About Mia

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a scrappy, athletic player who plays fast and relentless, always moving to the ball and refusing to let a play die. I bring strong, consistent serve-receive, a tough and adaptable serve, and the discipline to stay steady under pressure. As a quiet leader, I communicate clearly, read hitters well, and anchor the court with confidence, control, and grit.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m highly competitive and step on the court expecting to win. I lead by example through work ethic, consistency, and composure, and I build up teammates after every play. Though naturally quiet off the court, I’m vocal in competition, bringing steady energy from the court and the sidelines.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I compete in volleyball (Fusion Elite), softball (IGFA), basketball (Phenom), and track (I-Run), where I’m a two-time USATF National Junior Olympian in javelin and 2024 Iowa Field Athlete of the Year. I’m active in my church, FCA and volunteer in youth sports coaching and have earned the Distinguished Achievement Award at Indianola Middle School for two years.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I lead by example through effort and accountability and value communication, trust, and positivity in team success. Community service has strengthened my sense of responsibility. I strive to be a supportive teammate, loyal friend, and dependable family member.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I haven’t faced significant challenges within sports, but I have experienced adversity off the court. I lost a close friend to a rare brain tumor, which deeply impacted my perspective on life and competition. Since then, I play with more gratitude—for my health, opportunities, and the gifts God has given me—competing with purpose.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m seeking a college that fits me academically, socially, and athletically. I want strong academics with supportive professors, a positive campus community, and a competitive, team-first volleyball program. I’m looking for coaches who push growth and teammates committed to hard work and shared success.
