About Murphi

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a high-energy, smart, adaptable player who thrives under pressure. As a Setter/RS, I focus on quick decision-making, disciplined execution, and keeping my team in rhythm. I hustle for every ball and communicate constantly, no matter the score. My goal is to make the most informed decision I can with every ball I'm given.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Fun, driven, passionate, focused, supportive, creative, and adaptable.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Yes, I am an active member of my schools chapter of BASE (Black Awareness Society of Education), Pretty Brown Girls, focused on the empowerment of Black females nationwide, and the president & co-founder of Mercy's first Forensic Science club, Once Upon a Crime, diving into true, and recent crimes and how they affect society and media.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Playing volleyball has helped me develop strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills. As a Setter/RS, I’ve learned how to read the game, support my teammates, and keep energy high on the court. I am a great leader. Additionally, playing this sport continues to teach me the value of discipline, resilience, and hard work.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

In a prior season, I experienced a coach who devalued our potential (myself and my teammates). Although it was a tough season, it pushed me to work harder. I ended up becoming a better player and in the long run, incredibly mentally resilient.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a school that knows when to push, and when to take breaks that allows me to balance school and VB life.
