About Naomi

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am adaptable and quick to move on. If one point goes downhill, my mind moves to the next; if one shot doesn’t work, I try something different. I support my teammates whether I’m on the court or on the sidelines.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am authentic, disciplined, and confident. One thing about me is that I know when to be serious and when to have a good time. I’m known to be a happy person, and as such you’ll normally see me smiling. I am also someone who cares about important things- mental health, global health, human rights, climate change, and the list goes on. I speak up for what I believe in.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

As VP of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, I have served the club for 3 years. Stemming from a care for the mental health epidemic among teens, I have prioritized the creation of a safe environment for all students at my high school, no matter their background. I also tutor at Kumon, as a volunteer at 3 subject centers on campus, and privately. Awards: Principal’s Honor Roll, Stellar Student Award

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Growing up with a single mom in healthcare, I learned early on the meaning of independence and perseverance, but I also learned the importance of not comparing to others. If I spent all my time comparing to people who had things better, I wouldn’t have any appreciation for the life God gave me. Hardship has taught me to have gratitude and to strive to be a better version of myself each day.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college with a balance between strong academics and disciplined athletics. As an aspiring Physics major and surgeon, my desired university has top-tier research, a strong STEM program, as well as resources for scholar-athletes.
