Player Bio
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I like to take an analytical approach to volleyball, debriefing what actions and movements worked for myself and which ones did not; then implement improvements into the next play. I’m an observant person — my special skill is the ability to quickly recognize a player’s trends or patterns and anticipate opponents’ moves. I think this is an important skill to have as a libero.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I am a very easy going but competitive person, and I strive to stay positive in every situation. I not only put lots of effort into developing my own skills, but also into encouraging and uplifting others on and off the court.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I am in ASB, varsity volleyball and Health Science Academy (a four year curriculum that prepares students for a career in health sciences), and I am looking forward to joining the National Honors Society next year. I’m also part of the Christian Club, and ClubED, a program that helps students find volunteer opportunities. I’ve also won two photography awards from the City Chino Hills.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
Through various leadership positions and volunteer opportunities I’ve participated in, I learned how to meet the needs of others, work alongside people to build camaraderie and achieve common goals, and how to be vocal to make sure I get the help I need for myself and any team I am part of.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
I have had a blessed life, but one of the challenges that I have as an introvert is overcoming those tendencies on the court. I am proud to take to heart the saying “confidence is a mindset”, which has helped improve my court presence in volleyball. Having an open mind to try new things and get out of my comfort zone to improve my skills to become a better athlete has helped me build confidence.
What type of college are you looking for?
I am looking for a college that has a competitive volleyball program that will help me expand my skills and push me to be the best person I can be — not just as a player. I would like to attend a college that’ll set me up for success for a career in biomedical engineering, plus a lively campus that has a positive community of people striving to reach their potential while lifting others up.
