Of course, a defender’s impact is not solely measured by the flashy plays. Ottis also embraces her role as the primary passer and will readily take burdens off of her teammates. Our third-ranked defender is a libero who makes things look so easy in her play on the court. Ottis puts herself in a good position based on reading the setter and their ball placement. When I saw her live and on film this spring, she rarely had to get on the floor because she’s a step ahead. She is as poised a player as I’ve seen this spring, including all age groups of defenders. Her stock will continue to rise.
