About Olivia

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am opportunistic and I like to be strategic to win every points . I help the team see possible plays and consider myself a motivation to other team members. I also study the other team and try to learn as much as I can before and during the game.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have grit and passion in everything I do. I believe in working hard and putting the work in, if you want to succeed in life.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

National Honors Society Student Scholar for PVI 2023 and 2024 2024 High Point University Book Award 2025 Saint Anselm College Book Award

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed leadership skills by being a setter and team captain of my club team. Outside of volleyball, I have led group projects and have had opportunities such as charity to build my teamwork and leadership skills. I try to bring people together, be inclusive, and help my community by cooking & serving for the Loudoun County Homeless Shelter once a month for the last 5 years 60-120 people

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Growing up I witness my mother fight brain cancer everyday. Cancer taught me how to be strong and resilient. Cancer brought our family hardship and pain but it also brought us love and compassion for each other and for other people. I learned that you don’t quit because you’re tired of the situation. Instead, I keep working hard because you have a team behind you that needs you.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that has a strong Pre Med program

Olivia has been setting for the junior varsity for the last two years. They have finished 35-2 during that time. With a new coaching staff the opportunity exists for her to take over the varsity setting responsibilities. Last year’s setter Lucy Sroka graduated.

Paul VI has not finished above .500 since they won the WCAC in 2018. With a new coaching staff they will try to change that trend.

Olivia is a smooth setter. She has good hands and runs well to the ball, which allows her for the most part to use her hands when setting. For hitters hand sets are easier to time than platform sets.

This year should be an opportunity for Olivia to set for the Paul VI varsity. For the last two years her setting has made the junior varsity team almost unbeatable. Unfortunately, as I had to tell one parent when I coached junior varsity there are no state championships for junior varsity. Paul VI has a new coach creating a new mid set. This is an opportunity for Olivia to lay her mark on the varsity this year.

I expected Olivia to set for Paul VI last year.  The year before she set for a pretty solid Junior Varsity team that finished undefeated.  The Pamthers instead went to their libero from last year to set.  This year Paul VI has a new coach.  An opportunity to impress has shown itself.  Olivia sets very well for VAVA, normally setting a 6/2 and rotating out once she hits the front row.  For the Panthers she got some opportunity to set a 5/1.  As a junior next year this is her year to make an impact.  Olivia fits in at number 71 on our class of 2026 rankings.
