About Olivia

What's your biggest strength as a player, and how does it show up in games?

I work really hard to get to every ball. I try to get my feet under it and square up to my hitter instead of reaching, and I jump set whenever I can. Even when the pass is off the net or in the back corner, I chase it down and try to give my hitter something they can swing at. I also take pride in serving in. A Prep Dig scout called my work ethic terrific, and that's the part I care about most.

What are you working to improve right now?

I'm working on making my sets to the pins faster and flatter so my hitters can beat the block, and on running the middle more. I'm also adding a setter dump so blockers have to respect me on the second ball, and I'm getting more reps on the right side so I can help my team in more ways.

What are you looking for in a college program?

A team on the West Coast with a close, competitive culture, where coaches really develop their setters and push everyone to get better. I want a place where I can grow as a player and as a person, and where academics matter too.

Outside of your sport, what should coaches know about you?

I'm a good teammate. If someone makes a mistake, I'm the first one to pick them back up. Off the court, I love hanging out with my big, diverse group of friends. I'm also a huge baseball and softball fan, and I'm into music and games.

What do you want to study, and what career interests you?

I'm still exploring, since I'm only a freshman. I'm looking forward to figuring out what I want to study and what career fits me as I go through high school and visit colleges.

McCall is a smart player who asks all the right questions and has a terrific work ethic. The West Seattle 2030 has a solid set of all-around skills, setting with good technique, playing right back defense in position and with focus, and she was accurate with her serve. McCall is working hard and maximizing every training and clinic she can find during the summer, and it showed with her strong play at the Showcase.
