When you watch Blue Ridge play your focus tends to square on Kennedy Spaid Kennedy Spaid Kennedy Spaid 5'11" | OH James Wood | 2026 State #156 Nation VA hitting left side. Opposite her is the 5’7 Olivia Smith Olivia Smith 5'7" | OH Clear Spring | 2026 State VA . Not a lot of top teams can survive with a 5’7″ left side. Blue Ridge makes it work. When you watch the fast arm swing whip through the ball depositing spike after spike to the opponent’s floor it is difficult to ignore. She really loves to use the blocker’s hands to finish a kill.

Clear Spring also found success in the class 1 Maryland playoffs before being swept in the finals by Boonsboro. Olivia led the team in kills and aces while also finishing second in digs. She brought along teammates Addison Ziegler and Callie Hose to make Blue Ridge a powerhouse, winning the USA Division in the Northeast Qualifier and finishing third in the Mideast. Both times they turned down the bids.

That kind of team success for Olivia brought about the climb from 119 to 80 in the class of 2026 ranking. If she carried greater height that ranking would be much higher.

She lists at just 5’7″ but she plays opposite Kennedy Spaid Kennedy Spaid Kennedy Spaid 5'11" | OH James Wood | 2026 State #156 Nation VA as the second outside hitter.  She seems to get the job done with her share of kills to put the Blue Ridge team in the top 100 in the country (36) at the 16U age level.  For her play for Williamsport she received first team honors from her district in both her frosh and sophomore years.  She plays all six rotations.  An athletic player, Olivia is a former gymnast who now showcases her jumping ability by competing in the Triple Jump where she won the conference championship.  Olivia debuted at number 113 in our rankings for class of 2026.
