About Payton

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I consider myself a dominant yet extremely coachable player. I like to play fast and see plays before they develop so I can be in the right position for my teammates. I go into every game with a confident mindset and make adjustments as my coach and team need.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am a driven player. I want to win, but my greatest lessons come from my losses and failures. I am always thinking about what I can improve the next time around. Additionally, I am a supportive and encouraging teammate, cheering for my teammates' success as well as my own.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Currently, I am not involved in any clubs or organizations. However, I am currently working on identifying an organization to be involved in that aligns with my interests and values.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed resilience, discipline, leadership, and communications skills. I have the ability to bounce back from errors. I carry skills from practice to competition. I help keep my team focused, using clear communication to encourage them.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes, in my younger years as a volleyball player, I faced challenges finding the supportive team culture and environment to support my joy and development in the sport. Although this period was a challenging one, it was also a period of growth, making me resilient and giving me an opportunity to be an inclusive person.

What type of college are you looking for?

A DI, DII or DIII college with a strong volleyball program that also has strong programs in criminal justice and law, or the social sciences. I am interested in a college that has good support services, opportunities to be involved in the community, and is welcoming.
