About Racquel
Expert Analysis

Racquel clearly stood out as one of the hardest hitters in the tournament. She shows no fear when taking full swings at the ball. On occasion she found the block once too often forcing the Paramount coach to take her out to reflect on the sidelines. Despite that, he never lost faith in her, always quickly putting her back in the lineup. Racquel put together some critical kills that led Paramount to a big upset of Metro in the Chesapeake Regional championships and a second place finish to earn an American regional bid in Junior Nationals.
In the class of 2025 Racquel is one of two players in the top 25 of the class of 2025 yet to commit. Her game has vastly improved since you probably last watched her play so she may be worth a new look. Her back row play has improved by leaps. Think a smaller version of Akasha Anderson.

She recently earned the Washington Catholic Athletic Association (WCAC) player of the year honors. Normally, these awards are given to a player whose team won the conference. Not so with Racquel. St. Johns finished third in the WCAC, but the coaches felt that Racquel was the most impactful player in 2024.
A very strong hitter. She really puts some velocity on the ball whether she hits from the back or front row. Her back row play still remains a bit dicey, but it has improved exponentially since she was a frosh. Still a lot of growth left in her game.
This year she will play for Paramount . You can watch her compete at the Triple Crown this year. Consistently playing against top competition will strengthen her game.

Normally the MVP of a conference goes to a player whose team finishes in first place. That one player is usually responsible for the team’s success. Not so in the WCAC this year.
Racquel or “Rocky” earned the MVP honors in the WCAC even though St. John’s finished in third place. Rocky stood out as the player you feared most on the roster. If you had seen her play her frosh year and compare her to how she plays now you would think you were watching a different player. Her game is more complete. She has made herself into a six rotation player with hard work and dedication.
It is also possible that her club affiliation could be changing as well to Paramount but I could be listening to the wrong sources.

At 6’1″ Rocky has the length and strength to be a dominant volleyball player. St. Johns and Virginia Juniors relies on her to put the ball away on the outside. Both teams also look at her for her team leadership abilities.
For St. Johns Rocky led the Cadets in kills with a .253 hitting percentage. She also finished on top in digs and second in serve receive. This shows you how much her back row game has improved since her frosh season.
If St. Johns hopes to win a DC state championship, as well as the WCAC title they will need Racquel to make a big contribution.
