Johnston does a great job of seeing the court and knowing where to go with the ball in order to score. She isn’t afraid to tip or work the deep corners and it freezes defenders up when she accelerates into the next ball. Johnston is strong, athletic and will be a force to reckon with this fall.

Johnston is not only making a change in scenery with her club but also her position. She’s switching from outside to the right side this season as she goes from Northern Lights 16-Black to MN Select 17-1. She had a solid junior season with Chaska and could be on the brink of a breakout season.

Johnston caught my eye this past December at our Top 250 Expo. She takes a great aggressive approach and makes contact with a heavy swing. She has some great building blocks and solid technique to work with on top of a 6’0 frame.

Johnston is really good at the deep line tip and shows that consistently with such accurate placement. I like her in serve receive and her transition to attack is really fast and smooth. Johnston can accelerate in her approach and speed up her armswing to beat a block. She also does a great job taking care of the net. Her court vision and game IQ are high and she sees the openings develop and exposes them immediately. Johnston is an all-around athlete and can play a number of positions as well as a true gamer.

Johnston is smooth in transition and can absolutely hammer the ball. She demonstrated a lot power and proved to be a real terminator. Johnston finds a way to connect with her setters and time her approach.
