Townsend had to take swings as a middle for Aspire, play middle back defensively, and play the right side and outside, among other things. It’s a testament to her willingness to accept any role the team needed and compete hard while doing it. She looked especially good in the middle back defensively, reading tips and off-speed effectively and delivering clean passes to her setter.
