About Rylee

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I have been a utility and all-around player for several years and have recently settled into a 6 rotation player at OH and DS. I've been able to read the floor much better this year and place balls strategically but also add power to my swings. I have very consistent jump float serve as well that is able to get aces or get the opponents out of system.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am very systematic and understand where the other 5 players on the floor need to be at all times allowing me to direct my teammates since I'm vocal. I love cheering on my teammates and encouraging them.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in First Priority and FCA at school as well as being in honors classes.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

This year, I've learned to balance volleyball, training, and school. It has allowed me to get more involved in school clubs to be on student council and HOSA along with the other clubs I've been in since freshmen year. I'm a BIG to a freshmen this year on the volleyball team to lead them through the season and encourage them.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

My freshmen year i sustained a foot injury my tendon so I had to miss 1/2 the season. Because of this, I learned to value nutrition, stretching and training to rehab and for prehab. Since then, I increased my vertical and became a hitter because of that. Everything happens for a reason.

What type of college are you looking for?

I would like to play at a small private school or a Christian school.

Akers has developed as a nice six-rotation player for the 17 Grey team. Akers has a strong floater serve that keeps opponents out of system. Akers is a good communicator on the court and is not afraid to stick out her arms to keep plays alive. Akers takes sound swings in the front and back rows. Akers agreed she stil needs work on her first touches. Akers said she’s been focusing on moving her feet more and improving the speed of her serves.
