About Ryleigh
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
My gameplay style consists of never giving up on a ball, and I always do my best to get the ball in play for my teammates.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
In the past, I’ve been very hard on myself anytime I made a mistake. I am currently overcoming those challenges in order to become a better teammate.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I volunteer at Feed My Starving Children, and I am regularly involved at St. Joseph Catholic Church. In 5th grade, I was my class’ salutatorian. I have received the presidential awards the past four years.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
I developed leadership skills by being voted as captain for the past three years of club and school volleyball. I used to be very timid and shy, but every since I’ve started to play volleyball, it has made me come out of my shell and develop communication skills.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
During my 13U season, I wanted to be the best for my teammates, so I would constantly get in my head about any minor mistake. The mindset grew into “I need to be the best.” It carried on until my 14U season last year when I finally learned that I don’t need to be in my head about mistakes. Everyone makes them so why can’t I?
What type of college are you looking for?
I am looking for any opportunity to further my volleyball career in college.
