About Saniyah

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’d say my gameplay style is aggressive but smart. I love going up strong for the kill, but I also know when to mix it up with a tip or roll. I bring energy to the court, stay loud, and hype my team up. I’m always ready to block, swing, and cover basically, I try to be everywhere I’m needed. I don’t just play hard, I play with heart.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have a locked-in mentality when I step on the court, it’s all focus and hustle. I don’t let mistakes shake me; I learn and keep pushing. Off the court, I’m goofy, loyal, and lowkey, but when it’s game time, I flip the switch. I stay positive, support my teammates, and give 100% every time.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I’m not involved in any school clubs or other sports volleyball is my main focus. When I’m not training or playing, I work part time to help pay for the sport I love. I was raised in a one parent household, and my mom does everything she can to make sure me and my brother are taken care of. I just want to work hard and contribute however I can to support her and chase my dreams.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve always believed that leadership starts with how you carry yourself. I try to lead by example staying positive, encouraging my teammates, and holding myself accountable. Having a little brother on the spectrum taught me early how important patience, empathy, and consistency are. I learned that my actions affect others, and that being a leader isn’t about being loud it’s about showing up.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I started volleyball later than most my freshman year I didn’t even know how to jump, take an approach, or move confidently on the court. It was hard at first, but I didn’t let that stop me. I spent the entire summer training, learning, and putting in extra work to get better. I’m still growing and grinding every day, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come and how much I’ve pushed through.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college that feels like home with a strong volleyball program, supportive coaches, and a team that feels like family. I want to be part of a program where coaches are focused on developing players both on and off the court. Academically, I’m interested in schools that offer programs in sports medicine, physical therapy, kinesiology, or sports psychology. I’m ready to grow!
