Player Bio
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I focus on my team, but am also serious about my game. As libero, I am a 'cheerleader' and I help keep the energy up on the court at all times. My coaches, coaches from other teams, and parents often compliment me on my hustle and talk. I give my all to dig up the ball and make the passes good and playable. I have received honors for my hustle at 2 camps. One of the camps was at Iowa State.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I keep a positive mindset when I’m on the court. In challenging sets I try to be the positive voice on the court to help keep my teammates spirits up. I keep a calm and collected focus on the game, and know that in the end, sometimes you have to refocus if you lose a set. You cannot continue to let that weigh heavy on your mind. I move forward and shake if off in hopes others will also follow.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I was just inducted into the National Honor Society at my high school. I volunteer and am involved in church youth group activities. I have received academic honors and was awarded student of the month at my school, as well.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
I made the varsity VB team my freshman year. It was intimidating at first being the only freshman on a team of mostly seniors. This year I started as varsity libero and became more of a leader. I tried to help encourage younger players in their skills and be a good role model for them. I am a multi-sport athlete who has played varsity for golf, softball and a wrestling manager.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
I wouldn’t say significant challenges, but last year when I was the only freshman, I did not get much playtime. But I still gave it my all to try to earn the respect of my teammates and my coaches. I wanted them to know I take volleyball very seriously, and I want our team to be the best it can be. This year I started on varsity as libero and used my court time to my fullest advantage to improve.
What type of college are you looking for?
At this point. I’m not even sure of the type of college and it’s a big decision. I would really like to be at a larger school. I am considering pre-physical therapy sports therapy or possibly architectural design as my major.
