About Sierra

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I play a gritty and smart way of volleyball. No ball is ever dead until that whistle is blown and I believe that a great play can be made out of anything. While on offense, I often look for a spot to go for an aggressive tip if my normal swing is not beneficial to my team; While setting, I consider the effectiveness of my opponents various blocks, what spots our offense is trying to target, etc.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

If I had to describe myself in three words, they would be leadership, determination and flexibility. I always try to be there 100% for my teammates, friends, and myself. I take ownership as a leader on the court and attempt to maintain a mentality that pressure is a privilege. I GET to show up and improve everyday. I GET to push myself to the limit to grow as an athlete and person.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through my last 6 (and going) years of playing volleyball, I have learned a lot more than most would assume. Volleyball has shaped me to be who I am today, a person that values teamwork, commitment, and community service. I am a teammate and person that will encourage you to work your hardest, listen when you are struggling, and take action to lead when necessary.

Sierra ran the court with a calm, confident vibe. She’s got good hands, keeps the offense in rhythm, and doesn’t overcomplicate things. What stood out most was her ability to make decisions. She feeds the hot hitter, spreads the ball around, and knows when to take chances. Uses her height; she’s also a legit presence in the front row, blocking and dumping when it’s there. Steady, smart, and stood out in a big way.
