Simone started as a middle her first two seasons with Riverside. Last year they moved her to left side. They were rewarded with an undefeated season until they lost in the finals of the state championship. For club she started the season with Paramount but got lost in a roster crunch.

She won second team all state hitting outside. As a middle during her sophomore season she actually won player of the year for the Potomac District. For her senior year she hopes to culminate her high school season with a state championship. In my book Riverside is the top high school volleyball team in the state of Virginia. It would surprise me if they lost a match this year. Simone is one of those players who will lead the way.

Simone recently switched over from middle blocker to outside. Last year she played for Riverside, her outside play taking Riverside to an undefeated season, until they lost to First Colonial in the finals of the class 5 state playoffs. At 5’11” moving to the outside should benefit her. Unfortunately, playing time was limited at Paramount with at least five pin hitters and three middles on the roster. She does bring an approach jump that reaches 9’8″. Simone earned a spot on the Class 5 second team all state. With more repetitions on the outside she will be a tough player to stop.

Simone moved from middle to left side for Riverside. For Paramount she has also moved from middle to the right side. When she played middle she did not have to worry about the higher sets. With more repetitions at the outside she will get used to the timing. One advantage with her middle play experience is her ability to come in from the outside and hit quicks in the middle, keeping the opposition off balance.
