About Skyla

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

As an outside hitter, I am strategic and adaptable. I focus on reading the court and making smart, intentional plays that keep the defense guessing by mixing up my hits and aiming for open seams rather than swinging hard every time to capitalize on defensive gaps. In the back row, I hustle hard and turn defense into offense. I anticipate plays, receive tough hits, and deliver solid passes.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m silly, fun-loving, and kind, yet driven and strategic in how I approach the game. I bring energy to the court and love cheering on my teammates. I believe there is always room to grow, and every challenge is an opportunity to improve.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

This upcoming club season, I will play for Lakas 17 Elite based in Hayward, CA. I serve as a sophomore representative for the Business Academy, which offers high schoolers learning opportunities in areas such as business, finance, marketing, and entrepreneurship. In this role, I advocate for my classmates, share their ideas, provide feedback, and support student-led initiatives.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Over the years, I have strengthened my leadership, collaboration, communication, adaptability, and problem-solving skills. I stay composed under pressure, work closely with teammates, and contribute to a positive team environment.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college with strong Nursing and Business programs and a competitive volleyball team with a positive, fun, and hardworking culture. I want a community that supports my growth both on and off the court.
