About Skylar

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Smart. Skylar knows when to use power and when not to. She treats the volleyball court like a chess board, coordinating the right move to beat her opponent. Skylar brings fire and intensity to every set she plays

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I compete with a lot of heart and a lot of fire. I care deeply about my team and the game, and I bring a high level of energy, focus, and intensity every time I step on the court. I hold myself to a high standard and push to get better every day, not just for myself but for the people around me. I give everything I have from start to finish and play with passion, resilience, and a strong desire

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I have received several academic awards and take pride in staying involved in my community. I’m especially passionate about helping younger volleyball players and have volunteered at clinics to support and develop up-and-coming athletes. I also have a strong love for animals and plan to become a veterinarian. I am currently working toward securing a summer internship with a veterinary clinic.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through my experiences in volleyball, academics, and community involvement, I’ve developed strong teamwork, discipline, and resilience. Being part of a competitive team has taught me how to communicate effectively, trust others, and stay committed to a common goal. I’ve also built leadership skills by supporting and mentoring younger athletes during clinics, helping them grow their confidence.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Every season comes with challenges, but one I’ve faced consistently is having to prove myself because I’m not the typical height for my position. At times, it feels like I don’t always get a second look from coaches based on that alone. Because of this, I’ve had to work even harder to stand out—focusing on my skill development, athleticism, and overall performance

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college in California or Arizona where I can grow both academically and athletically. Finding a coaching staff that values drive, determination, and work ethic over just physical attributes is really important to me. I want to be part of a program that will push me to improve, believe in my potential, and give me the opportunity to compete and make an impact.
