About Sofia

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a player who brings 100% energy and effort toward every ball. I go for everything even out of my reach and love taking feedback on what I should work on.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I believe that everytime I step on the court is a chance to get 1% better. I take every opportunity to bring my all and show everyone all my hard work. On the court I am very fast to switch to the next point, not letting a mistake take me down.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am apart of the National Honors Society and a mentor for middle schooler this year. I have also recieved high honor roll and Ascender All-Star awards!

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

One of the biggest skills I have learned is leadership. I think this quality ties into everything I do in life from volleyball to the classroom. In both, leadership is not only a form of being a leader of your team, but leading them to success. It is being a role model and providing positive energy to make every individual the best version of themselves.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

About two years ago I moved to Dubai after living in Texas for 5 years. This made me scared for the future as there was little to no options to play in Dubai. However, I continued working hard and a new opportunity arose to me at IMG. This opportunity meant moving halfway across the world to be in boarding school without my family. I knew it was going to be hard but my passion was worth it.
