Jesse Etter | Prep Dig Scout
Gourley was hammering away for kills at PNQ, and her calling card will always be her powerful arm swing and ability to score. We liked her calm platform in serve and receive, and her commitment to running down balls and getting on the ground defensively. Gourley is skilled and strong; she can handle a serve with pace or a big swing when she is in the middle back. The Columbia River junior has always had a rocket arm; she is fine-tuning the rest of her game to match it.

The Columbia River 2027 prospect is putting the hurt on NPJ 17 Salem opponents this club season. Gourley has a heavy arm swing, and she detonates swings off the block and defenders. She has added a three-quarter swing line off high hands and a cut to the angle when the block is well-formed. Teams like to test her in serve receive, and she has been solid to start the season. Gourley is a scorer, and every team needs a player who can produce on offense consistently.

With Gourley roaming the pin, Athena 15 Gold finished 7-3 overall, good for 11th in the 15 Freedom Division at USAV Nationals. The 2027 from Columbia River has excellent length and a good feel for the game. In the match against NSCC 15 Black, Gourley played all the way around and held up defensively as a passer in serve receive. She shined outside, dropping in a soft tip, scoring on a well-placed push to the deep corner, and delivered several stinging swings off, around, and over the block. Athena pushed the tempo offensively with Gourley; she kept up with the speed of the sets nicely, throwing the defense off-balance.
