About Sophia

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am an aggressive hitter looking to tool the block or hit around it. I also look to tip and push to gaps in the defense. I look to seal the block whenever possible and allow for less options for the hitters.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I look to move one point at a time and use momentum to my advantage. I love to hype up my teammates but make sure everyone is still focused and looking to do the best we can.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in FFA for my school and have recieved awards in multiple math meets, acalympic (all subjects) competitions, all-academic teams, and leading test scores. I am also a part of my schools Student Council.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I feel I have developed grit, flexibility, and perseverance. I feel teamwork has been something that came with these strengthened qualities for me.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I feel my biggest challenges was depression. I feel it brought down my motivation to get better and continue working, but i had to fight that. Another challenge would be a toxic team/coach environment that made it nearly impossible to continue the sport I love. I feel learning to speak up and be open-minded was something that I had to learn too.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college with a good program in my career choice and one with a stable sports program. I want a positive environment but also a focused and determined one. I am looking for a coach who wants me to improve and to teach me more ways to improve my game.
