About Sophia

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

As a libero/DS, I lead by example, staying steady and reliable on the court. I am always hustling by giving 100% effort for every ball, and keeping the energy high for my teammates. I stay focused, reading the game and making precise passes off of serve receive and defense to run an effective offense. I am also adaptable, adjusting to whatever the game throws at me to help my team stay in control.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

As a libero/DS, I rely on strong mental toughness and resilience to stay focused under pressure. I stay calm and focused to lead our defense through tough rallies. I communicate constantly to help run our defense efficiently and keep a positive attitude and mindset to keep my team motivated. No matter how challenging the game gets, I stay adaptable, ready to dig and keep every ball alive.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

At school, l am involved in National Honors Society (NHS), math club, Future Healthcare Workers club. I have also received many academic excellence and leadership awards at school. Outside of school, I am apart of the Infant Crisis Services Teen Board where I help fundraisers and spread awareness for babies and toddlers in need!

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Leadership and teamwork has helped me run our defense efficiently so we can set up a fast and effective offense. It has helped me lead and communicate my team during intense games or high pressure situations. I have also developed a love for community service whether it's advocating for babies or coaching 6th grade volleyball, | believe serving others is a powerful way to make a positive impact.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Throughout my volleyball journey, I have struggled with confidence in my play. As I grow older with the support of my teammates and coaches, I am now much more confident in my abilities to run an effective defense, make precise passes, stay calm and focused under pressure, and communicate to lead my team in intense rallies.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college where I can continue my volleyball journey but also my academic and personal one as well. I would like to find a college with reputable pre-med courses because I would like to get a degree in Biology to become a Pediatrician one day. I would also love to attend a college with a welcoming and competitive volleyball program.
