Ilagan was one of three players to be used as a libero for Katy United 17 Adidas during their campaign but the fact that she was the one wearing the blue shirt in the most important match of the weekend speaks volumes about her performance. Ilagan played at her usual high level and her defensive solidness was pivotal for her team’s success over the weekend. A very complete libero, she was solid with her passing and defense and also made some impact with her serving.

There was a lot of rotation in the lineup of division winners Katy United 17 Adidas when it came to the libero and defensive specialist roles, but Ilagan was always a solid presence in their backcourt. Regardless of the shirt she was wearing, Ilagan made some very good plays using her excellent positioning and quickness to react to get to balls. She has great ball control and is only getting more confident on the court as she continues to develop. Serving was another area of the game where Illagan contributed with some aces and a handful of serves that got opponents out of system.

Very technical and intelligent, Ilagan is Kempner’s floor general on the backcourt. She’s very consistent and reliable and recovers a lot of balls on defense and when covering her hitters. Her defense, which features great positioning and reflexes, is outstanding and she recently surpassed 1,000 career digs. One of the most impressive things about Ilagan, who can also set well in transition when needed, is her ability to control the ball even when needs to dives to get it.
