About Sophie

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

As a setter, I am decisive and smart. I run the best players in order for my team to score. On defense, I am quick to the ball and give it to the libero to out of system set. I can hit if needed as I make smart plays on where to put the ball and have a great vertical.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

After making mistakes, I usually know what I did wrong and correct it the next play. I am a leader on the court and I cheer on my teammates.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am in the global studies academy at my school. We go to enrichments to learn about various cultures as well as volunteer.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have been team captain at my schools and volleyball clubs. This has helped me develop skills and qualities such as leadership, communication, and time management. I also volunteer at the food bank and an animal shelter.

What type of college are you looking for?

A welcoming environment with high academics and competitiveness.

Mihalakis was a new face to me and I thought she was one of the most difficult setters to play against for opposing blockers. She was not afraid to set against the flow and often forced opponents to cover a long distance to get in front of the ball, getting her hitters in good situations to put the ball down. Mihalakis also did well in out-of-system plays, using her great setting hands to remain accurate with her locations. She looked very calm on the court at all times and communicated well with her teammates.
