About Sophie

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Calm, disciplined, and efficient middle blocker with strong net awareness. Reads hitters well and closes blocks with effective press and angle control. Confident in quick tempo offense including 1s, 3s, and slide, with a powerful, controlled swing. Transitions quickly off the net and stays available in tempo.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m grounded, confident, and steady under pressure. I respond quickly after mistakes and stay even-leveled throughout matches. I value communication, coachability, and doing my job well for the team.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Honor Roll (3.95 GPA)

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Strong communicator and reliable teammate who stays steady under pressure. Committed to continuous strength development and intentional mental preparation and conditioning. Outside of volleyball, I volunteer at my church bible camp and nursery programs, which has strengthened my leadership, responsibility and ability to serve others.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Balancing rigorous academics with high-level competitive sports has strengthened my discipline and time management. I challenged myself by taking two math courses in one year to advance academically while maintaining a 3.95 GPA. Managing both academics and athletics has built resilience and mental toughness.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a competitive program that values development, strong team culture, and accountability. Academically, I want a school that challenges me and supports long-term growth both on and off the court.

Rychart is a dominant force from pin to pin. Her footwork is swift and strong when closing a block. She does well reading hitters and setting her block up in front of them. Her high hands project the ball back to her opponents making it hard for them to return. Rychart has a big swing in the middle and is always putting herself in a position to run a route. Her communication with her setter keeps the plays going. Overall, Rychart is a powerful force on the court.
