About Starr

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a class of 2028 5”1 setter, and the best brief description to highlight my game play would be quick and concise in thought, and movement. While considered undersized, I make up for it in consistency, smart, fast paced plays, and eagerness to beat the ball. I set the pace of my offense with affective communication and persistent urgency.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have an equipped eagerness and passion in every ball I play, I have an undying love for the sport and look to make every play fun and exciting. Whether or not that’s in a crazy dig, hit, or set, I find enjoyment and strive in positive consistency and good attitude on the court.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I have involvement in a wellness oriented sports organization with IMR Float where I provide my service at events and fundraisers. In addition I used to volunteer entertainment and provide company at nursing homes. Then finally, I have received many academic awards for honor roll, high state testing, and outstanding citizenships.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through stepping out of my comfort zone and providing my service, company, opinion, or guidance, I have learned a deep understanding of the importance of keeping myself calm and assertive when faced with challenge and the personalities of others. I have used this understanding to attune myself and become a more personable leader and assessing people with well manners.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Throughout the entirety of my athletic career I have faced challenges in being undersized and overlooked. I have never been a big block or an outside that makes direct points but I have always put my best foot forward in staying confident and providing consistency in smart plays and attitude. I face being an undersized athlete with putting in the extra work that not everybody else has to.

What type of college are you looking for?

I have my heart and determination set on a large campus, D2 or D3 school, which has a heavy emphasis on kinesiology and business, as well as a well nourished sports program. I want to continue to excel at volleyball and want to attend a school that will not only provide proficient coaching, but stability for athlete bodies.
