About Sydney

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am 6 rotation player. I play with intensity, focus, and a positive attitude. I’m aggressive at the net, my goal is to have quick feet, and good anticipation on defense, and always looking to make smart plays to help my team. I like high-pressure situations and try to bring consistent energy to every match.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I'm highly motivated and my focus is to be a disciplined athlete who thrives on competition and continuous improvement. I bring a team-first mentality to everything I do—supporting my teammates, staying coachable, and pushing myself to be better every day. I’m resilient under pressure, focused on my goals, and always looking for ways to grow both on and off the court.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am in my school’s Political Leadership Magnet Program. The goal of this program is to empower students to build strong relationships with leaders in government at the local, state, national and international levels.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Over the years, I’ve developed strong leadership and teamwork skills through both volleyball and community involvement. Off the court, I’ve participated in community service projects that taught me the value of giving back and working with diverse groups of people. These experiences have helped me become more disciplined, empathetic, and committed to making a positive impact wherever I go.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes, I didn’t make the 6th grade middle school volleyball team. As I had never played before, I did not quit, I went to work training over the fall and winter. I made the 7th grade team, we won the county championship, as I was a starter. 8th grade year, my team won back to back championships, I was captain with MVP honors.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college that offers a strong balance between academics and athletics. Academically, I want a school with a challenging curriculum and supportive faculty where I can pursue my interests in the medical field. Athletically, I’m looking for a competitive volleyball program with a positive team culture, strong coaching, and opportunities to grow as a player.
