About Taryn

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I can hit cross court 2 to 2 shots as a lefty, and love hitting line. I utilize a topspin serve in my game

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I always try to have a next ball mentality. I find this keeps me from getting in my head about mistakes. Although I’m shy at first, I am able to open up and be myself with my teammates. I would describe myself as hard working, committed, coachable, and kind.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am ranked 8th currently in my graduating class, and I am the class treasurer.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have stepped into an unofficial leadership role in both my club and school teams. I have been a positive role model for the younger players at my school, always giving encouragement and high fives. I also am going to be a volunteer coach this year for one of my club’s younger teams.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

My shin splits are my biggest challenge right now. I’ve had them for about a year now, and it affects my playing. I am able to get them under control so that I can usually play without pain, but it has been a lot of effort to get them to this point

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college with a good program for my major, and in terms of volleyball, a school that provides a positive environment and will create lifelong friendships from sports. Also, good campus food is a must!!
