About Taylor

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I would describe my gameplay style as intelligent yet aggressive. I have been told that I have a high volleyball IQ and a strong understanding of the game. I see the court well and use a variety of offensive shots and strategies to keep opponents guessing. My ability to mix attacks and make smart decisions allows me to be effective in multiple situations.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am an equal balance of extrovert & introvert. I enjoy time with friends & teammates, but am also comfortable being independent and focused when needed. I am highly competitive & motivated by a strong dislike for losing. This pushes me to give maximum effort in practice and every point I’m on the court.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I have been involved in the Livestrong Club and the Military Appreciation Club. I helped organize school-wide events that raised both funds and awareness for various types of cancer & designed and sold T-shirts to raise money and organized our annual football game to honor and show gratitude toward Norfolk Academy parents and faculty members who are active-duty military or veterans.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have been voted Team Captain 4 of 5 years in club. I am often seen as the “mom” of the team, who looks out for everyone & makes sure they feel supported. I work as a summer camp counselor each year & spent a week building a house for Habitat for Humanity this past summer. These experiences have helped me develop strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.

What type of college are you looking for?

Volleyball has been a big part of my life. It has helped shape me as not only a better athlete, but a better human. The relationships and leadership skills are something I will carry with me the rest of my life. I hope to further my collegiate and volleyball career at a school that pushes me academically, athletically, and sets up an amazing future for me to build on.
