She’s also a solid blocker, who uses her length and her positioning at the net to make stops and force opponents to hit around her.

The long and powerful right side hitter had no trouble scoring when in system and also used her offensive reach to put the ball down when set off the net. She came through in very important moments of matches and remained consistent all day, producing in every single match. Helms also made a difference with her blocking, getting stops at the net and creating issues for opposing pin hitters to score on her team.

She used her length and power extremely well at the net, at times overpowering opposing blockers and at times going around them, but, most importantly, did what coaches expect from right side hitters at the next level, which is making big plays in big moments. Helms put the ball down in some clutch moments of matches and also did an excellent job with her blocking, stopping at the exact right spot and going up at the right time to get in the way of opposing hitters.

Helms has made great progress over the last year or so and is a key piece in her United VBA 17 Purple team. She has always been a strong offensive player, who used her length to overcome opposing blockers, but has added some power and also the ability to hit sharp angles from the right, expanding her offensive arsenal. Helms’ blocking is also very solid as she uses her hands well to cover her designated area up at the net. She can also play middle and has good mobility on the court.

Hitting and blocking are probably the two most important skills for a right side hitter and Helms masters both of them. Because of that, she will be a big factor in the campaign of her team United VBA 17 Purple in the 17 Open division. Helms’ offense uses her 6’2″ frame extremely well, but she also has great power to score when in-system and impressive finesse to find solutions to side out off the net. Her blocking is also very productive as besides having great length she also does a very good job of taking up space up at the net.
