About Tehya

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’d say my gameplay style is super aggressive but smart. I love bringing energy and intensity — whether I’m swinging hard from the outside or putting up a solid block in the middle. I’m confident, competitive, and always looking for ways to outwork and outthink the other side. I play fast, communicate loud, and never back down from a challenge.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’d describe my mentality as confident, focused, and competitive. I’m the type of player who stays locked in no matter what — I love pressure and use it to push myself harder. I’m super team-oriented, always hyping everyone up, but I also hold myself accountable. I hate losing more than I love winning, so I’m constantly working to get better. Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I was part of NJHS from 7th through 9th grade and helped launch the very first NJHS class at Crismon during the 2023–2024 school year, which was a really cool experience. I’ve also volunteered at local food banks, helping organize donations and support community events. Giving back and being part of something bigger than myself is really important to me.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve developed a lot of leadership and teamwork skills through volleyball and community service. Being part of a team taught me how to communicate, stay positive under pressure, and support others even when things get tough. Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yeah, I’ve definitely faced some challenges — especially learning how to balance school, volleyball, and other responsibilities. There were times when I felt overwhelmed trying to keep my grades up while still giving 100% on the court. I’ve also dealt with confidence dips after tough games or injuries, but those moments pushed me to stay mentally strong and trust the work I put in. Each challenge

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m really interested in going to an HBCU because I want to be part of a community that values culture, history, and family. I’m looking for a college that feels supportive and connected — where I can grow not just as an athlete but also as a person. I want a school with strong academics, a competitive volleyball program, and people who push each other to be their best.
