The 2017 club season was highlighted by a bronze medal finish by Crossfire’s 16-1 team in the 16-National division at the USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior Nationals. Entering into 2018, Crossfire’s 18’s and 17’s teams look to build upon that success and momentum and are profiled below. With training locations in the Champlin and Brooklyn Park areas of the greater Minneapolis-St. Paul, Crossfire offers several teams for high school level athletes. With one squad at the U18 division, Crossfire also competes will compete three teams at U17.
Crossfire 18-1
A quartet of Northwest Suburban all-conference selections lead Crossfire’s 18-1 team in 2018. The offense will be directed by senior setter, Elizabeth Macken (Centennial HS), while outside hitter, Lauren Bedard (Andover HS), and opposite, Ellie Hintze (Coon Rapids), will be two key targets. Defensive specialist, Kylee Cox (Park Center HS) will help stabilize the ball control. Also contributing to the defense are Kendra Walton (Champlin Park HS) and Taylor Tody (Rockford HS). Other offensive contributors include outside hitters, Lauren Beecham (Park Center HS), Allison Hall (Elk River HS), and Metro West all-conference honorable mention Kim Lindgren (St. Louis Park HS). Middle blocker, Meghan Paidar (Maple Grove HS) and opposite, Makayla Krohnberg (Blaine HS), will also be counted on to terminate the ball. Krohnberg is the team’s lone 2019 class member.
Crossfire 17-1
Crossfire’s top 17’s team has 11 athletes all representing different schools. The setter is Zoe Brown (Maple Grove HS) and is a 2017 Northwestern Suburban all-conference selection. Defensively, Minneapolis City all-conference selection Si Si Mitchell (Minneapolis South HS), will lead Crossfire 17-1 along with fellow defensive specialists Megan Keller (Blaine HS) and Emma Macken (Centennial HS). Looking to control the middle are Claire Peterson (Fourth Baptist) and Emily Rossing (Osseo HS). Point scoring from the pins will be handled by outside hitters Marianna Buckel (St. Croix Central), Lexa Hosier (Becker HS), and 2017 Tri-Metro all-conference selection Sarah McTaggart (Concordia Academy), while Kaylin Carel (STMA HS) and Taniya Crowther (Hopkins HS) will compete on the right side.
