SubscribeThis Class of 2021 is going to be a special. With already two D1 commits before the end of their Freshman year, it’s just a matter of time before more start giving the “verbal” as to where they will be pursuing their volleyball career after high school. Milwaukee Sting always has strong players and that is no different with this class, their 15 Gold team is rated by some as one of the top ten teams in the nation and will have hopes of competing for a national title at the AAU National Championships in June.
However, Cora Behnke is from Northeast Wisconsin and playing for FC Elite 15 Navy which has plenty of talent as well as some young players who haven’t even played a set of high school ball yet. Across the state along the Western border we have Anna Wolf, has quite the lineage of volleyball in her family and will be the next rising star for River Falls High School and has already given her verbal to Coach McCutcheon at the University of Minnesota. Here is a closer look at the top five prospects in the Class of 2021.
#1 Brooke Mosher – Setter/OH – Waterloo – Milwaukee Sting 15 Gold
Committed To Illinois
Brooke has two older sisters in Madeline and Claire who won state titles for Waterloo High School and will both be playing for Marquette this Fall with Madeline as a Junior and Claire as a Freshman. Brooke is making a name of her own after having a standout Freshman year with 452 assists and 449 kills. And yes….this was just her Freshman year. For Milwaukee Sting 15 Gold, Brooke is 5’11 setter where she can distribute to plenty of weapons. She has all the physical tools and fundamental training for the next level. Over the next few years she will continue to become more physical and raise her play to be among the best in the Big 10.
#2 Cora Behnke – Outside Hitter – Oconto – FC Elite 15 Navy
Behnke is from Oconto which is about 40 minutes North of Green Bay. Once a hidden gem, but now on the radar of plenty of programs. Behnke is strong and physical on the pin and has plenty of shots to go with it. Her FC Elite 15 Navy team has been having a solid season with Behnke as one of the main threats to score points. Behnke will continue to fine tune her game and become a better defender at the net and with her passing along with scoring more out of the back row. With a loose arm swing and a high snap this makes her a threat to score every time she approaches.
#3 Samantha Naber – Burlington – Milwaukee Sting 15 Gold
Special player. Wow. Those are a few quotes I’ve heard in regards to Naber and her defensive play. Naber exploded onto the Wisconsin Prep Volleyball scene this past Fall when she was the starting libero, as a Freshman, for Burlington’s State Championship team. The way she was able to read and take pace off of some of the top outside hitters in the state was unreal! Naber earned 2nd Team All State which is incredibly tough for a libero. She was the top Freshman on the All-State team and will look to repeat as state champions with her Burlington teammates.
#4 Lizzie Binder – Sheboygan North – Milwaukee Sting 15 Gold
Binder is an absolute force. At 6’3 Binder can play on either pin and is more than just a threat to score point from the offensive side, but is an absolute wall on defense. Binder has solid year round training with Milwaukee Sting 15 Gold as well as Sheboygan North High School where she is competing against other Division 1 athletes, an environment to succeed and improve. Binder is an elite Division 1 prospect that will continue to develop along with the rest of the athletes in the top of 2021.
#5 Anna Wolf – River Falls – Kokoro 15-1
Wolf was on the radar before she even entered high school. She benefited from playing on the River Falls varsity this past Fall that had an undefeated regular season, training with fellow middle blocker, Marissa Stockman who is going to Illinois State. Wolf is long, athletic, and is the prototypical middle. Wolf has two sisters, Jess and Taylor who are standouts for Green Bay. She will also have another Wisconsin (soon to be) prep, Mckenna Wucherer joining her at Minnesota in the Class of 2022.
