A total of 34 teams from Nebraska will be taking part in the 15s-18s age division with, as usual, the 18 Open division looking to be the most competitive.
VC United 181 out of the Chicagoland area rolls into Des Moines as the top seed in 18s while Nebraska Elite 17 Razee starts the tournament as the second seed. Iowa Power Plex 17U, which features future Husker Madi Kubik and future Wisconsin Badger Devyn Robinson, is the #3 seed. VCNebraska 17 Elite comes in as the #4 seed and Nebraska Juniors 181 is the #5 seed. All of those teams are the top seeds in their opening-day pools on Saturday.
The top two teams in each of Saturday’s pools advance to the championship tournament. River City Juniors 18 Navy, TeamMagic 181 and Nebraska Edge 18 Gold are the other Nebraska teams competing in the tournament. It will be interesting to see how Nebraska Edge 18 does in its pool against Power Plex 17U, Eden Prairie 181 out of Minnesota and VC United 182. Nebraska Edge 18 is from Northeast Nebraska and features a pair of Hartington Cedar Catholic standouts in Midland recruit Maddie Wieseler and Jada Cattau.
In the 17s division, VCNebraska 17 Black is the #4 seed over and Milwaukee Sting’s 15 Gold team – one of the nation’s best in its age division – is the #5 overall seed and is the wild card in the division. VCNebraska 16 Elite and Nebraska Juniors 171 are each the second-seeded teams in their respective pools. Nebraska Juniors 172, River City Juniors 17 Navy and Stanton 171s – featuring Stanton’s Wayne State recruit Jessie Brandl and Midland recruit Bree Burtwistle.
In the 16s division, Nebraska Elite 16 Apollo is the only Nebraska team to earn the top seed in its pool as the #8 overall seed. Nebraska Juniors 162, TeamMagic 163, Nebraska Elite 16 Alloy, VCNebraska 16 Black, VCNebraska 15 Elite, Nebraska Juniors 161, VCNebraska 16 Blue, TeamMagic 162, Nebraska Edge 16 Gold and Nebraska Edge 16 Silver are also competing in the division.
In the 15s division, Nebraska Elite 14 Havoc is the #3 overall seed and Nebraska Juniors 151 is the #7 overall seed. Nebraska Elite 15 Chaos, River City 15 Navy, VCNebraska 15 Blue, TeamMagic 151, VCNebraska 15 Black, VCNebraska 15 White, River City 15 Red are the other teams from Nebraska in the division.
