1.) What do you consider your strengths as a player?
I think one of my strengths is being smart while attacking. When I’m hitting I think about putting the ball to a good spot, rather than just swinging for a kill every single time. I like to swing hard every single time but that doesn’t always work depending on the situation you are in. I also think my defense has gotten a lot better because I have gained more confidence back there, and I love hitting out of the back row!
KCRG2.) What do you consider your weaknesses?
I think a weakness I have is being very hard on myself. I always have to remind myself that volleyball is a game of mistakes and that they are going to happen. It’s inevitable.
3.) What has been your favorite opposing gym to play in?
My favorite gym to play in during conference matches is probably Tripoli’s gym because it is newer and bigger than most gyms we play in! I know a lot of people from there so it is always fun to see them too. We both bring big crowds when we play them too. (But the US Cellular Center is by far my favorite place to be during highschool volleyball!)
4.) Who is your favorite player in high school to compete against?
I love competing and meeting new people. I wouldn’t say I have a favorite player to compete against but I like to meet the players. When you go to small schools these people will support you later on and it’s an amazing feeling.
KCRG5.) What is your favorite part of the recruiting process? Least favorite?
My favorite part about the recruiting process is that feeling when they contact you and you feel that all your work has done something for you. My least favorite part is coming into it blindsided and not knowing what to do or how to do it. Recruiting has changed a lot.
6.) Who is your favorite volleyball player?
My favorite volleyball player is Misty May or Jeremy Casebeer. I chose these two outdoor players because I have met them and they are both down to earth people. I met Misty at a beach camp and tournament I went to in Wisconsin and she took the time to get to know me. She had also sat down and talked to our parents which was super cool. I choose Jeremy Casebeer because he is a men’s avp player right now and he helps us train, coaches us, and does camps for us. He came to Iowa for a camp and as soon as I met him and trained with him… I wanted to be his best friend. I am in California playing sand right now and he lives here. He came and trained us one day and then he coached us the next. How cool is it to have an AVP player coaching you?! But they are just two awesome people who I hope to obtain their status and qualities some day.
7.) How would you compare HS volleyball to club volleyball?
I like them both because they are the same game but they are different in their own ways. During highschool we are together a lot more but during club it feels like we are together all the time too. The speed of the game is different too. They are both super fun and it’s volleyball so I love them both.
8.) What is your favorite piece of volleyball equipment?
My favorite piece of volleyball equipment is our volleyballs because you couldn’t play without them.
9.) Any game day superstitions?
I do not have any game day superstitions, but I always like to have music.
10.) What goals have you set for yourself and your team for your senior season at Janesville?
We haven’t laid out are exact goals for this season yet but one of our big ones each is to go back to state and win!! We train super hard and we use that while we are playing as motivation. A goal that I have is to be the best teammate and player I can be while helping others along the way too.
11.) What do you hope to do when your volleyball career is over?
When my highschool career is over I hope to continue in college for outdoor or indoor. And I don’t know anything after that!
