Continue ReadingMinnesota club teams brought home three national titles last year, one from the USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships and two from the AAU girls’ national tournament. Several of those participants are listed below, including some newcomers to the rosters as they seek another successful club volleyball campaign in 2019. Here are some of those athletes:
Northern Lights Volleyball
The majority of this team is intact heading into the club season. A year ago they entered the event as the #3 seed overall and finished the tournament with a 9-2 overall record and defeating Top Select by set scores of 25-14, 25-16 to claim the championship.
Entering the 2019 club season two roster omissions stand out. Jasmine Mulhivill (MB | 2019) has moved over to MN Select while Gabrielle McCaa (MB | 2019) is now on the Northern Lights 18-2 roster. However, a big pick-up for this team to replace these dynamic middles is Anna Erickson (MB | 2019), a Central Michigan commit from Hopkins High School. Here is the updated roster for the reigning national champs as the jump to the U18 level:
Northern Lights 18-1
Erika Bute – 5’6, Libero/Setter, 2019 = Uncommitted
Anna Erickson = Central Michigan commit
Christine Graf = Cal Baptist commit
Kyndra Hansen = Iowa commit; 2018 GJNC All-Tournament
Marissa Hinkle = UCLA commit, 2018 GJNC All-Tournament
Ellie Husemann = Minnesota commit
Rachel Kilkelly = Minnesota commit
Kennedi Orr = Nebraska commit; 2018 GJNC MVP
Blythe Rients = Iowa commit
Peyton Suess = Wake Forest commit
Their first national-level event will be the weekend of January 11-13 at the Northern Lights Qualifier in Omaha, NE.
