Instant Impact: 2030s Thriving in Their Freshman Seasons

Despite being just a few weeks into their first high school season, several are already playing significant varsity roles, putting up impressive numbers, and helping their teams win. From running offenses and terminating from the pins to making plays defensively and at the service line, these young players are showing that age doesn't determine impact. Despite having only a few matches under her belt this fall, Oman has already racked up 49 kills while averaging 2.2 kills per set and hitting .213. She brings energy to the court and finds ways to impact the game beyond just running the offense. That has already been evident during her freshman season at Cretin-Derham Hall, where she leads the team with 18 aces while also adding 43 digs and 27 assists. The freshman leads the way with 73 assists while also adding 19 digs and 3 aces as Kimball has jumped out to a strong 4-1 start. Johnson has a solid game IQ, does a great job finding and feeding her attackers, and plays with confidence beyond her years. The freshman opposite/setter has primarily been used as an attacker so far, and she is making the most of those opportunities. Smith has a solid vertical, a big swing, and the ability to unload on the ball even when she doesn't have the time or space for a full transition. She is currently averaging 1.4 kills and an impressive 1.3 blocks per set, showing that she can make an impact on both sides of the net. The freshman outside is averaging 2.3 kills per set while adding 9 aces and 22 digs as the Panthers get their season underway. She has a quick approach and a fast arm swing, but what stands out is her ability to vary her shots and find different ways to score. Fogarty also has a solid vertical and is learning how to use the block to her advantage rather than simply trying to hit through it.
