Michigan teams are off in full force at the start of the 15s and 17s wave begins at AAU Nationals and will finish with the championships on Monday. With a little help of some live streaming, we were able to see multiple teams across different divisions at various facilities across the event. We will be taking a look at different teams from throughout the week, but from this morning’s performance here are some standout performances to note!

Kennedy Dolmage - Legacy 17 Elite

Steady and solid. Dolmage is the libero for Legacy 17 Elite and she is so efficient with how she moves and being under control to provide consistency for the defense. With all of the attackers for Legacy, they can’t be as effective when there isn’t a clean pass to run the offense. Dolmage provides just that to get the offense rolling. She has committed to Oakland University.

Jordan Newblatt - Team D 17-Red

Newblatt is pretty creative out on the pin. She is able to hammer hard on the cross court shot, but is also able to use the block to her advantage to score points as well. Against this morning’s match against Kokoro out of Minnesota she went on a run in the front row and went back to the service line for an ace. Definitely a six rotation all around point scorer.

Serena Nyambio - Michigan Elite 15 Mizuno

Much like Ruprich, Nyambio attacking off one foot is pure gold. However, MiElite will run her on various routes to attack on the side, off one foot in front of the setter, and a shoot that is so quick the ball is down before you can adjust to block. If teams key in on Nyambio they will have Kimani Johnson on the right side and Ava Brizard on the pin who are both extremely terminal pin hitters.

Raeleen Sobetski - Team D 17-Red

Sobetski really brings on a physical and athletic style of play to the court where she is definitely the go to point scorer from the outside. A high vertical and aggressive approach makes her tough to stop . With Sobetski and Newblatt on the court there is always an outlet for Team D.

Ellie Ruprich - Legacy 17 Elite

There is no stopping Ruprich when she gets out of the right pin for a slide. She makes contact high and she can go cross or line for an easy point. Her speed and athleticism at 6’3 makes her quite the force at the net. The future South Carolina Gamecock has a great feel for the attacking line of the opposing hitter and is able to press and send the ball back to the ground.

Sarah Sylvester - Michigan Elite 15 Mizuno

Nyambio is more lightning and Sylvester is a little more thunder in the middle. Get Sylvester in system and she is hitting sharp angles or deep corners to score points as well as block. MiElite 15 Mizuno finished the day 3-0 and will be a really dangerous threat heading into the weekend if they can stay in system and keep feeding their middles.
