The word “Consistency” has been missing in WV’s play all season. They are very much a streak-laden team as it showed early in set one as they had a minimum of 6 attack errors and 2 ball-handling errors. Meanwhile Plainfield North won the war at the net, out blocking WV 3-to-1, and only with two hitting errors on their way to a 25-12 thrashing,
As predicted, WV’s roller coaster went up in set two as they pulled out a 25-20 win. Right Side Elenzie Franz had the last three kills for the warriors.
Set three was a fight as the WV roller coaster kept rolling. With Waubonsie Valley up 7-5, PN called the timeout. Coach Matt Slechta must have seen something he didn’t like and wanted to address it. The gap jumped to four points at 16-12 when Plainfield Northcalled their second timeout. a Lilly Summers kill, followed by two service aces by Mekenzie Smith, brought the score to 16-15 WV. Roller coaster up; Waubonsiescores on three consecutive attack points and a PN service error. Roller coaster down and Plainfield North’s Ella Wrobel is at the controls. The outside hitter scores five points off of attacks and despite WV getting a few points along the way, the is tied at 22. a warrior ball handling error gives Plainfield North a 23-22 lead. WV counters with 2 kills, then PN gets another Wrobel kill to tie the match at 24-24. Waubonsie Valley finishes on a high note, getting a kill and game point on a PN error and escapes to play another day. Plainfield North ends their season at 30-7, Waubonsie Valley continues at 28-10. Next up for the Warriors is Benet, Wednesday night at Bolingbrook. Start time is slated for 6 pm.
