<p>Despite De La Salle's second-set comeback, Joliet Catholic held on to a 25-15, 25-20 victory at the 3A Hinsdale South Super-Sectionals. <strong>Jillian Gray, (2021, 6'0, OH, JCA)</strong> led all players with 9 kills and picked up 6 digs on the night.</p>

<p>In set one, DeLaSalle jumped out to a 2-0 start, their only lead of the set. JCA chipped away and pulled out to a 14-8 lead before De La Salle called their first time out. The JCA Angels kept stretching the lead as Erin O'Grady had two aces before De La Salle called timeout #2 at 20-14. <strong>Ryan Hungate</strong> and <strong>Emily Surin</strong> came up with the double block at game point as the Angels finished off the Meteors 25-18. </p>
<p>Set two saw the Meteors speed off to a 4-1 lead, thanks to <strong>Daniela Scalise</strong> (2021, 5'7, S, De Lasalle) and her two service aces. JCA's <strong>Jillian Gray</strong> and <strong>Bella Ray</strong> combined for the next 5 points with a double-block and two kills apiece. The angels kept accelerating the lead until they finished a 19 - 9 run, bringing the score to 20-13. At 24-13 game point, the Meteors took a last run at the Angels, closing the gap to 20-24, before JCA capped off the victory on the eighth attempt at set and match point. <br />

JCA advances to the state tournament, to be held Nov. 15-16 at Red Bird Arena in Normal, Illinois.</p>
