Hoosier Setter? Top 2021 Uncommitted Setters

During our launch of PrepDig Indiana, we wanted to make sure that all positions are listed, and our emphasis in this article will be our top uncommitted setters in the 2021 class. [player_tooltip player_id="85691" first="Caitlin" last="Murphy"], 5-7, S, Team Indiana 18 Elite (18-1), Brownsburg High School This unassuming, 5-7 setter from the western suburbs of Indianapolis should not be taken lightly. She’s already started and played against the best competition that both JVA and USAV have thrown at her, including the Triple Crown tournament in Kansas City. Although TI’s 18 Elite aren’t in the mix for top 18s teams in the state, Caitlin immediately makes this team better with her quickness, set location, and her consistent ability to turn a bad pass into a better set. Keep an eye on this one; she won’t be uncommitted for long. [player_tooltip player_id="85696" first="Paige" last="Conklin"], 5-8, S, Dunes 17 Black (17-1), LaPorte High School Paige is technically closer to Chicago than Indianapolis, but we can still claim her as a Hoosier. Another unassuming, no-nonsense setter that quietly makes her teammates significantly better by turning every bad pass into a hittable set. She is also more than willing to do the dirty work on defense, and takes up more space on the block than your average 5-8 player would. [player_tooltip player_id="85722" first="Claire" last="Morris"], 5-10, S, Circle City 18 Black (18-2), Perry Meridian High School Claire, one of only two juniors on this club team, does well to run the offense and has above average location and above average athleticism to get to anything thrown her way. Once again, yet another setter from Central Indiana that just does her job and does it well. Her 5-10 frame and 9-7 attack jump don’t hurt, either. [player_tooltip player_id="85788" first="Carly" last="Sobieralski"], 5-10, S, Academy 17 Riptide (17-2), Franklin Central High School Not normally considered a "volleyball school", Franklin Central High School is extremely blessed to have the Sobieralski family in their district. Both parents are former Ball State players, and older sister Haley is a setter at NCAA II Lewis University. As for Carly, it is this author’s opinion that Carly is already better than her older sibling when she was this age. Her hands are quick and deceptive, she locates the ball perfectly in both slower and faster tempi, she defends at an exceptional level, blocks everyone, and shows a skill not often seen from setters in Central Indiana---offensive prowess.
