Top 2022 Uncommitted Pin Hitters from Indiana

We continue our review of the 2022 class from Indiana, this time with a focus on pin players. There are a few on this list that can be listed as middle as well, but my focus will be on top OH’s and RS’s from Central Indiana. With an abundance of pin attackers on this list, the players listed below are only the beginning of what will be a long watch list of top overall recruits from the 2022 class in Indiana.

[player_tooltip player_id="85806" first="Katie" last="Egenolf"], 6-1, OH/RS, Circle City 16 Purple, Center Grove High School

Katie is a big, strong kid from Center Grove that has just recently come on to the scene for reasons this author is unsure of. As her high school season progressed, she became the primary attacker as the season got past the sectional and regional rounds, and finished with the team lead in kills. In high school, she plays with Butler recruit [player_tooltip player_id="85701" first="Grace" last="Boggess"] (’21) and Wisconsin signee MJ Hammill (’20). In club, she’s trained by the top training coach at Circle, Scott McQueen. She can hammer from both pins and from the back, if you need it. She’s also a fiery player, if you like kids that love to win and hate to lose. In Central Indiana, this is the 2022 pin attacker that should be receiving more attention as we get closer to summertime.

[player_tooltip player_id="85812" first="Estella" last="Kleffman"], 5-9, OH, Union 16 Asics, Trinity Lutheran High School

She does everything for Union’s 16-1, including serve receive, defense, service, and attack. She has every shot in the book, and is another hate-to-lose-more-than-love-to-win kid. Estella plays with a passion and urgency that just can’t be taught, and is often overlooked because of her size. When Miss Kleffman is on the floor, one of two things happens; she either (1) touches the first ball in every rally, or (2) touches the last ball in every rally. Her ceiling is limitless, and I can’t wait to see her play again.

[player_tooltip player_id="85814" first="Ella" last="Peter"], 6-0, RS/MB, Circle City 16 Purple, Noblesville High School

Over the last couple of years, I have watched this kid play for multiple clubs trying to find a fit. She doesn’t seem fit into one particular label, because she can do just about everything. As a freshman at Noblesville, she was a starting middle, but played RS in one rotation. Her club development skyrocketed, and now she can do anything along the front row with a smoothness that isn’t seen much at this level. She also has sneaky long arms and can block any tempo set for Coach McQueen.

[player_tooltip player_id="85816" first="Natalie" last="Lostutter"], 5-9, RS/OH, Union 16 Asics, Floyd Central High School

I like this kid a lot. One thing in common with Union players---volleyball smarts. Knowing what shot works in what rotation at what time is what Natalie can bring for you. She gets overlooked in both high school and club because she’s just not the "look at me" type. Then again, maybe Natalie is the one you want; a steady option at the left pin that can pass too.

[player_tooltip player_id="85821" first="Avery" last="Moore"], 5-9, OH, Team Indiana 16 Elite Molten (16-2), Zionsville High School

I’m kind of surprised that this kid fell to TI’s 2s team. Avery is an absolute steal for Mark Britner, her coach at TI, and she can carry the load both offensively and defensively. She gets overlooked because this particular team won’t play at the Open level often. But when they do, she can hold her own, and is easily their #1 option.
